Translated this back in 2008. X_x; Historical Date Masamune’s love letter to one of his men.
Well, I was watching this Japanese variety show a few months ago and during the program, they were talking about the Sengoku era. Within the program, they mentioned about Date Masamune and an… interesting historical document they found. Back in the days, homosexuality was considered particularly… “normal” in Japan. So, the document they found was a love letter written by our beloved Date Masaume to one his “men”.
The general gist of the letter is Date apologizing to his lover for saying something horrible to break the poor man’s heart and asking for forgiveness.
Source from the original TV show I was watching. lol
Date Masamune’s letter (in old Japanese and modern Japanese. Scroll all the way to the bottom and you’ll see a “basara” translation. It’s hilarious, if you can read Japanese…)
And I’ve translated the said letter (Basara ver.) into English so, people can understand the historical Date Masamune more… with a little bit of BASARA filter on. ^^;
Please note that this is:
1- Historical. It has nothing to do with the game/anime/manga version of Date Masamune
2- Between two men. Please no flames of homophobia… x_x; It’s not something “I” particularly wrote so no use flaming me.
3- Partially crack. I’m sure Masamune was dead serious when he wrote this, but no offense… if the Date in the game were writing this, I’d probably laugh at him.
Now, without further ado…
The historical love letter of Date Masamune…
Yet again, I broke my own tumblr rules by reblogging. I am truly sorry ;_;
